About the project
Héctor came home from the Malvinas War, but he never truly left it behind. Haunted by memories and estranged from his daughter, the former Army commando has spent decades with his life on hold. A chance to reconnect with her and his granddaughter finally offers him a future beyond the war.
That second chance is shattered when a debt owed by his daughter’s partner leads to the little girl’s kidnapping. Determined to bring her home, Héctor takes on a criminal network controlled by Gobi, a crime boss from the Buenos Aires provincial heartland who is running for governor.
As the search intensifies, the instincts and violence he has suppressed for years resurface. Combat brings an unsettling sense of familiarity: Héctor feels in his element again. Directed by Esteban Wolfenson, El combatiente is a dark political action thriller about the wounds of war and one man’s search for redemption as the fight to reclaim his family gives him a reason to fight again.
